7th month mark of alkalinising (cont'd)

  • Jul. 17th, 2008 at 8:30 PM

My rosacea is more under control now since alkalinising.  This is probably the first month my face hasn't itched too much just before my period where it flares up big time and gets very itchy.  My period came today and a few days before my period I had the usual hot flushes and night sweats and last night it was difficult to get to sleep, all regular symptoms lately.  I keep wondering if it's related to the menopause though it's way too early for that for me.

My skin on face still has some discolouration and while I was taking taurine as recommended on Dr Robert Young's site for a while, the past couple of weeks or so I hadn't been taking them as regularly and I'm not sure how long I'm supposed to take it for.  I guess until the discolouration fades away would be the most realistic answer.

Today I only managed 2 litres of water and just didn't get time to drink after especially as I then had to rush to yoga and I needed an empty bladder.

I am still very intrigued as to why I'm so very thirsty these days.  I miss Evian water as I'm currently buying cheap Sainsbury's brand water.

Re urinating, I'm at the stage now where at times after drinking 1 litre of greens, I don't need to go pee so much and at other times, I do - I can never tell what the pattern is.  However at nights, I still wake up 3-4 times every night to go pee irrespective of whether I've drunk water just before or if it was 3-4 hours previously.  I've gotten used to this now.

Sample of what I'm eating lately ... roughly

Today - spelt flakes and rice milk for breakfast as I didn't have time to prepare a salad for breakfast.
Lunch - salad with hummous
Dinner : spelt crackers with soya butter and almond butter (probably not good but I'm pushed for time and lazy too cook (woopsie!)

At times I'll have organic basmati rice with stir fry vegetables (I know it's not quite advisable to have stir fry ie cooked but sometimes I miss a hot meal.  For what it's worth as an LPR Reflux sufferer sometimes after having the rice and stir fry veg, my stomach will play up at night and/or my ph levels will go down - so for me personally it's a point to note.  I need to experiment ie eat earlier and see if it still affects my pH levels.

ENERGY LEVELS
I find I'm needing less sleep and am more energetic.  I've always been a lethargic person until now.  It's a good thing.  I don't yawn as much as I used to.  I'm still on baby steps as I feel I have a way to go yet before I feel totally comfortable within myself.  I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to eating normal acidic foods as I quite like alkaline foods and how I feel afterwards within myself.

BOWEL MOVEMENTS
Hmm, about 1 or 2 a day.  Soft stools; and sometimes when the need to go comes, I really NEED to go there and then and it's over in like 5 seconds all whoosh and out and clean.  Very strange and something I'm not accustomed to as for years I've had small pellets like rabbits poop thinking this is normal and healthy and now it's one long soft stool and it just comes out just like that.  If I'm having a bad day, I'll get diahrrohea ie watery stools.  No particular reason for the bad day -- just is.  Not really food related - could be stress or tiredness etc or not eating / drinking enough or eating too late.

GREENS
I am eating salads though I've stopped eating spinach and the green leafs cos they're always sold out!  I haven't (yikes!) (cringe!) made a green blended healthy drink in weeks!  I'm so sorrie!!  Cringe!  Haven't had time to as I never have enough ingredients.  I do eat my salads though ie cucumber, red peppers, carrots, hummous (though I think I'm eating a little too much hummous).  I read it's fat content which is a little too high.  I am fully aware I need to up the green drink.  I try to do that when I have my massage weekends at college ie I'll bring a flask of blended greens with avocado (if I remember).  It does taste nice - it's the recipe on Dr Robert Young's website with avacodo, spinach, Biolive, cucumber and blend it!  Yummm!

STRESS LEVELS
Now that I've moved away from situations that stress me out, I am feeling more at peace within myself and happier.  I'm taking responsibility for how I feel within and making the necessary changes.  I love my holistic massage course and absolutely love giving people massages and seeing the expression on their faces afterwards.  I have to do a minimum of 100 hours of massage in 6 months and I'm about on the 20 hour mark!  I have a way to go yet!  It's absolutely very rewarding and fulfilling.  Stress = acids remember :).

I do feel at work that I'm constantly grazing ie eating and drinking all the time non stop!  At times it really feels it gets in the way but you learn how to deal with it.  It does feel unrealistic and unpractical at times.  It's a lifestyle change.  Again my biggest motivating factor was watching the Biggest Loser and seeing how they made their lifestyle changes and integrating back into life with friends and family.

PERIOD
This is my 7th month of alkalinising and the 2nd month that my period has returned to normal ie the 26 day mark in between periods instead of being 6 weeks or longer.  I am getting night sweats and period pains slightly just before and during period so that's not improved.  My womb still feels like it's falling out of me.  At yoga today I changed my tampon before class and about 50 mins later needed to change it again but I was in class and didn't want to interrupt it.

SWEATING
Oh yeah!  What's with the sweating?!!!  Before alkalinsing I hardly ever sweat!  Now I sweat all the time ie walking from the tube to the office and when I'm massaging.  Hello?!!!  Is it cos there's more water in my body?  I haven't a clue.  I will ask someone and find out the answer and advise in due course.  Re sweating during massaging, the teachers said that would regulate itself at some point and re walking from the tube to work and sweating well, I've been driving into work for 10 years and only recently cos of the financial situation been taking the tube in, and that's a lifestyle change so maybe that's why I'm sweating?  It's a thought hey! :)  Intriguing one though!

RACE FOR LIFE IN AID OF CANCER RESEARCH
I took part in the Race for Life 2008 in aid of Cancer Research last Sunday 13th July 08 in Blackheath were 11,000 women ran for Cancer Research, or should I say walked!  Ha!  I had tried to plan and train for the race for several weeks and started off with good intentions, though towards the end cos I had my ITEC / BTEC Holistic Massage course and homework, I just couldn't find the time to train or go to the gym as much as I wanted to.

Anyway on the day itself, my back was aching as I hadn't warmed up (couldn't hear the commentator on stage and it was too windy for me to warm up on the Heath).  It took me 1km before my body warmed up and as there were so many people, 11,000 women and children decided to walk the route.   I don't think I'll be doing it again though as both my chiropractor and oestopath and a few other people have advised that due to my bone structure (and cos I have oesteoparosis, it's not adviseable for me to run and put stress on my bones).  My chiropractor advised weight training to build muscle and to take magnesium and calcium.  I'm hoping the alkalising will help with building the blood along with yoga and weight training.  Don't even get me started on what my friends are suggesting (or demanding I do!) - YUP!  You guessed it - EAT NORMAL ACIDIC FOODS!  Bleh!  :)

I and 2 of my friends managed to raise £1,200 for Cancer Research and we're very pleased.  For the day itself, all 11,000 women so far (and children) raised over £1 million on internet donations.
